Project Overview
The Six Shooter is an innovative 10-hole Short Course located on the grounds of the Scottsdale Country Club in Arizona. Scottsdale Country Club was founded in 1953 to a design by Lawrence Hughes, who began his career working on Donald Ross projects. Hughes was tapped to create an 18-hole resort course in the booming town of Scottsdale. In the 1990s Arnold Palmer was given the assignment to expand the course to 27-holes. As the years went by, and driven by real estate potential, the 27-hole configuration was changed to form a full-length range and an executive-length 9-hole course along with a version of the original 18-hole, regulation course. In 2025, Forrest Richardson created a new master plan to restore much of the 18-hole course while creating an all-new short course, “The Six Shooter.”
The Six Shooter is a series of par-3 holes ranging from 80-yards to 150-yards. The 6th Hole is an innovative par-2 putting hole that is incorporated into a large, 25,000 s.f. “Social Green” called The Bandana. Players reaching the 6th Hole are presented with a 150-foot putt challenge — an undulating green with tee markers set on the green surface. The Six Shooter routing allows loops of 6-holes or a full 10-hole round.
